2001

February

- Shi'Voc heard about Snyder's tibia 6.0 emulator and thought about making his own with Acrimon thus the birth of OTServ.
- Packet sniffing and decoding was done by Protos
- Tliff made a program to extract the graphics from tibia client.

2002

June

- OTServ has its own mini forum on WoT. Blast from the past

2003

November

- OTServ v2.7 is added to SourceForge.
- OTServ v2.7a is added to SourceForge.
- Tliff posts that he will no longer be active and that he wishes someone would take his place for the time being.

2004

April

- Haktivex joins OTServ staff as lead programmer.
- Sharki joins as the official OTserv mapper.

June

- Haktivex experiments with packets, and created the very first spells.

September

- Very first edition of the battle system was created, very buggy, but it ran.
- Sharki asks for a helper, Exorid is then picked as the 2nd official OTserv mapper.

November

- Fandoras shows Tibia Dark Age (or just TDA) to the public, his own version of OTServ created in C#. This went on to be the core of the new OTServ, recoded in C++. This server had a much more stable battle system, as well as spells.
- OTServ 0.3.0 that had the battle system featured was rated as the most popular otserv download and most awaited to be released.
- Sharki leaves OTserv making Exorid new lead mapper.
- Fandoras shows off his open source map editor for OTServ.
- Tliff and Shivoc come back and start working on OTserv. Haktivex steps down as lead programmer.
- First OTServ List was made by DeathfireD and Martin the Dwarf. Blast from the past
- Tibia Deathmatch origins from TDA which was released to the public by Rey; it was once famous because of similarity's to Reebow's project name (Deathmatch) - Later removed from Tibianews, WoT.
- Official OpenTibia test server is opened and run by Tliff
- Exorid stops work on Official map since it wasnt being used by the test server.

December

- CIP emails WoT asking them to get rid of the OpenTibia Board on thier forums. WoT seem to accept this.
- A community is formed, OTCommunity is the name. Leaded by Foziw and Jorris, it rapidly grows up, mainly due to the OT'ers of WoT that came out from there, accepting OTCommunity as the new "official" community (at current moment).
- Tibia Deathmatch is banned from all official OTServ and TDA communities.
- jakexblaster joins OTServ with both a MapEditor (based on Fandoras' works) and a simplist map format

2005

January

- DeathfireD leaves OTServ because of server list complications.

February

- Zuttlan & some other key people leave OTcommunity and go into retirement.
- DeathfireD and Exorid form Tibia Dark Age now known as The Dark Age asked Fandoras and Haktivex to join. Both leave OTserv staff because of minor/major issues (some involving there positions in the OTserv staff) and joined TDA.
- jakexblaster with Fandoras' help implements the first steps of the multileveling on OTserv: the project now gets "3D".

March

- jakexblaster leaves the community temporally, due to college season.
- Official Open-Tibia test server had some problems and was shut down.
- OTFans is created by Yorick, Nuker and Verkon. It was virtually unheard of at the time. The biggest community at the present time, OTcommunity, had some kind of "generalised crisis".

April

- OTFans starts to grow, Pekay finds OTFans.

May

- jakexblaster comes back to the OpenTibia server community, releasing the fifth version of his MapEditor.

June

- OTFans grows massively, making it one of the biggest communities in OTserv.

July

- OTCommunity falls down and merges with Tibiafans causing them to lose a big piece of their members which in turn joined the OTFans community.
- XTibia.com is created by Gustavo. XTibia is the biggest Brazilian community at the present time and the most stable Otserv's website

October

- Alpha version of Open Tibia Client by fike released.
- Development of The Outcast, an alternative 3D client, begins by Khaos.

November

- The current official OTserv developers (Simone, Spin and Primer) launch the OpenTibia Binary Map (OTBM) based on the OTB idea, also made by the current team. Maps get its size reduced.
- Arkold Thos launch Otserv Development Awards 2005 but get closed some days later.

2006

January

- Arkold Thos and wrzasq launch OTServ Development Awards 2006.
- DeathfireD and Martin the Dwarf bring back an updated version of the first OTserv list made back in 2004. OTserv List Revived
- Smygflik joins the OpenTibia development team.

February

- OTFans is critised for it's act and some new ideas.
- Pekay is fired from Administrator of OTFans for a staff comment and not caring. After two days talk with Pekay and Yorick get Pekay back in his position as administrator, but Pekay demands better deals in improving OTFans.

March

- Enforced rules, now all binarys servers need to release sources (GPL).

April

- April fools joke played on OTFans.net
- OTserv thread is re-opened on WoT.

May

- Tibia shows off their updated client with encryption, DirectX5/9 and OpenGL support also some minor helpfull things built into the GUI.
- Official OTserv developers along with TDA members and a few other great programmers, brainstorm on how to decrypt new client in order to keep Otserv true to its name (open tibia server) currently they understand how it works and have a few proof of concept ideas.
- OTserv's new CVS has the decryption function for the tibia client added in but is still being tested.
- OTFans had a meeting that went over SQL and alot of other little things related to the site and the development of OTserv.

- OTserv News Started OTserv News.
- May 29th OTserv Wikipedia deleted.

June

- Minor updates of Tibia Client.
- OTFans Staff Meeting.

July

- DeathfireD re-opends OTserv 7.1 list due to some servers not showing up on OTservlist.org, this list is only for old Open Tibia Servers 7.1 and under.
- July 22th Vitor, Anstice and BlackDemon started a new CVS project written from scratch. The New OTServ is an OTServ made to use a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The project was formerly known as The New OTServ (TNO).

September

- Official opening of the OTserv Central Database.
- Otserv Package for Debian in http://mentors.debian.net by Arkold Thos.

October

- Linux forums openned in Otfans.net.
- Public release of Otserv Package for Debian in Otfans.net by Arkold Thos
- Otserv Development Awards 2006 (ODA06), the project of Arkold Thos and wrzasq voting phase started.

November

- OTserv Central Database closes due to Tliffs server crashing.
- November 11th Revbattlesys merge to Main Branch.
- OTvote opened for OTfans OTvote.otfans.net.

December

- December 27th Khaos begins rewriting The Outcast.

2007

January

- OTServ Development Awards 2006 winners announced by wrzasq at otfans.net.
- OTServ Development Awards 2007 starting announced by Arkold Thos in late January due to organization problems.

February

- First version of The Forgotten Server is released by Talaturen.

April

- OTFans 2 years anniversary.
- New OTFans Downloads Database added.
- Nikolas released the first AAC for The Forgotten Server distro.
- Avarian released AF-AAC, the first AAC/CMS for The Forgotten Server distro.

May

- OTServ News 1 year anniversary.
- Talaturen founds Otland community.

August

- XTibia, the official community of OpenTibia in Brazil commemorates two years.
- revdbsys branch started to remove XML database support, this is managed by wrzasq.

September

- revnetsys re-started by spin and SimOne.
- AFS-CMS v0.1.0 released 9/28/07 by Avarian

October

- revnetsys is merged to the repository by spin.
- OTFans reorganize their forum structure and usergroups.
- revdbsys is merged to the repository by spin.

December

- Remere releases his map editor.
- YATC v0.1 is released.
- otserv81 is merged to the repository by spin.

2008

January

- Otservhispano, the official Spanish-talking site got closed due to organization problems
- eOtfans opened by Arkold Thos and becomes the official Spanish-talking site.
- bitLib is implemented into the project
- sha1 is implemented as a hash for accounts
- XTibia get 100k users

February

- Data folder is done for release of 0.6.0 OTServ

April

- OTFans gets a new fresh design and updates to vBulletin 3.7
- Smygflik releases his own cross-platform ip-changer for Windows and Linux called SmygIP

May

- OTvote gets a face lift and some major upgrades

June

- The server which OTFans and OTWiki is hosted on gets hacked
- OTFans is back online 20~ hours after being hacked
- hiperkarma created a new logo for OTFans

July

- RevScriptSys branch gets created by Remere.This branch will focus on enhancing the scripting support of OT, and making it possible to create much more advanced scripts
- Otserv main and Avesta branches get updated to Tibia 8.2 protocol
- YATC get updated to Tibia 8.2 protocol
- DeathfireD says that Otservnews v3 will be ready in a little while of time
- XTibia launches it's new site totally integrated with forum

August

- OTWiki site is back since the hack of June
- OTFans.net starts a contest for making OTWiki logo in change for a 6 months subscription account

September

- OTserv News is updated to V3
- OTFans moves to a new server due to scaling issues after being hosted on the same server since March 2005

October

- OTWiki moves to OTFans

November

- Avesta is merged back into trunk by spin.
- OTServ is updated to protocol 8.31.
- OTServ version 0.6.0 is released!

2009

January

- OTServ version 0.6.1 and 0.6.1b is released!

February

- OTServ version 0.6.2 is released!

March

- 1,000,000 posts is reached!
- Vacuum is hired as the new OTFans graphics artist!
- New logo is introduced.
- Evo and Stormer are hired as the new Admins.
- GriZzm0 decides to start a OTFans project.

May

- OTFans gets moved to a new server, named SpitFire.

July

- eOtfans the official OpenTibia Spanish site, moves to Tibia4.net

September

- Tibia4.net has been upgrade totally by getting a vBulletin forum.
